Greeting from Dr.Matthew Fahey

Head of DLTS International School

Dear Students and Families,

We have had a wonderful start after the Christmas break. Students have gotten back into routines very quickly and I have seen much teaching and learning. As we look ahead, we only have eight weeks left before the end of the school year. Please make the most of those eight weeks.

To support continued learning during the long summer break, we are offering two summer school programmes. We strongly encourage every student to join at least one of these programmes if they cannot join both. A 12-week gap away from school can be especially challenging for students living in a non-English-speaking country. Participating in summer school will help maintain and strengthen their English language skills as well as skills in other academic subjects.

We look forward to your participation and continued growth.

Warm regards,
Dr. Matthew Fahey
Head of School

Greeting from Ms.Jennifer Bradley

Head of DLTS Preschool

Dear DLTS Preschool Families,

Dear Preschool Families,

Welcome back! I hope you had a joyful and restful holiday season. As we begin the new year, we are excited to continue our journey of learning and growth together.

Today, our preschoolers had a wonderful time participating in the Children’s Day activities organized by the kindergarten staff. It was a delightful opportunity for the children to play some games and they were all very happy to receive a small prize!

Looking ahead, our next big event will be the Lunar New Year celebrations on January 28th. We are eagerly anticipating the exciting performances and creative handicrafts organized by our talented Chinese teaching team. This celebration will be a memorable way to embrace culture and community together.

We are also excited to see many of our classes showcase their incredible learning in the upcoming Learning Showcases. These events will be a fantastic way for families to celebrate the children’s hard work and achievements over the semester. Stay tuned for more details!

A friendly reminder: If you have questions or concerns about classroom topics, including academics, behavior, or learning activities, please reach out to the homeroom teacher through the Toddle messaging feature. Please also note that our classroom staff are no longer using Line messages as a form of communication with parents. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Lastly, a quick reminder: Summer Camp registration is now open! Spots are filling up quickly, so be sure to secure your child’s place soon.

We’re looking forward to a semester filled with exploration, creativity, and joy!

Warm regards,

Ms. Jennifer Bradley

Greeting from Ms. Rebecca Suangoon

Head of DLTS Primary

Dear parents,

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday with your families.

This part of the semester promises to be filled with exciting events and opportunities for growth. One of the highlights will be our upcoming residential trips, which offer invaluable experiences for students to develop independence, resilience, and teamwork skills.

Grade 3 Residential Trip: On 23-24 January, our Grade 3 students will head to Pine Resort, where they will engage in activities designed to foster confidence, collaboration, and a connection with nature.

Grade 4 & 5 Residential Trip: Later in the semester, from 5-7 March, Grade 4 and 5 students will travel to Baan Mai Tara Resort in Samut Songkhram. This trip will provide them with opportunities to explore a unique environmental setting while strengthening their sense of responsibility and camaraderie.

I strongly encourage you to consider sending your child on these residential experiences. These trips are not just about fun and adventure—they play a crucial role in helping students grow into responsible and resilient young individuals.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Grade 4 STEM: Using Ratios to Make Things Bigger

In their Grade 4 STEM unit Supersized!, students learned about ratios and how to use them to create larger versions of everyday objects. Their challenge was to choose a small item, like a chocolate bar or a glue stick, and make it ten times bigger. This hands-on project combined math, creativity, and building skills.

The unit started with a lesson on ratios and scaling. In groups, students measured their chosen items and used technical drawing paper to sketch the top view, side view, front view, and isometric view of their objects. This helped them plan their designs accurately.

Next, students gathered materials and applied their previously learned skills to safely use tools like cutters and hot glue guns, ensuring a safe and productive workspace for everyone.

The building process took a few lessons. Students started by making the basic shape of their product. They then added details like colours, textures, and logos to make their models look as realistic as possible.

This project helped students understand math in a fun and practical way. They also developed teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills. The results were amazing, and students were proud of what they created!
