More than ever before, the need for an all-inclusive approach to education has never been greater. Beyond the traditional school subjects, art and culture have become a crucial aspect of academia for students in our modern age.
It’s not all about the books here at DLTS, we believe that integrating art and culture into education is an essential part of shaping how our students see, and interact with the world around them.
Art isn’t just limited to drawing or painting, nor is culture limited to something that is merely objective facts. Both are a form of expression, used to broaden the horizons of which construct the world around us. As a leading international school in Nonthaburi, there are but a few things that are as freeing as learning, and appreciating the differences that lie within the collective community that we call Earth.
Cultural integration in learning
As you make your way through the corridors at DLTS, one thing is for certain, you are sure to discover just how crucial art and culture are to our ethos and the learning experience of our students. We don’t limit ourselves to only teaching about said cultures, instead, we influence our students to live and feel them every single day.
This is the advantage of choosing an international school such as ours. Friendships are forged, bonds are created, and lasting memories are forever etched into the core childhood memories of our students.
“Choose Excellence” isn’t just limited to the academic side of things, it extends to every aspect of our lives and we thrive by offering our students a platform to discover, and immerse themselves in different cultures as often as possible to help them better understand the world around us.
Over the Christmas holidays, we held a Christmas camp here at DLTS, packed with exciting activities for our students to learn and have fun at the same time! Our students learned how to play traditional Chinese instruments, got creative with arts and crafts projects, and even tried their hands at baking.
We saw the Christmas holidays as the perfect time to line up some exciting activities which integrate art and culture into education, allowing our students to not only develop new skills but to also let their imaginations run wild and discover different cultural practices at the same time.
With this in mind, our approach to integrating art and culture into education goes far beyond the classroom and the occasional celebrations, we strive to implement both key aspects of global citizenship knowledge as a core part of our curriculum.
In creating a well-rounded approach to education, art classes, music lessons, and the exchange of cultures are pivotal areas of what is taught in a school day.
Why is it necessary?
We believe that exposure to the arts and cultural differences present in our society has a direct and positive impact on creativity, open-mindedness, and empathy. Over the years, we have witnessed first-hand, the growth and development of our students in this area. To express themselves confidently through the arts in conjunction with an eagerness to explore and understand different perspectives through exposure to cultural diversity.
We continue to set ourselves apart from other academic institutions with each passing day by prioritising this integrated approach as we truly believe that it promotes a lifelong passion for learning and exploration, encouraging our young minds to become active participants in whichever community they find themselves in the future.
As we continue to grow here at DLTS, we do not plan to slow down on this innovative approach to education. Looking forward to 2025, we are excited about many upcoming events and activities that will further encourage our students to participate in cultural and artistic experiences.
We invite parents to be part of this exciting journey here at DLTS, through introducing art and culture as cornerstones to education, we strive to create an amazing community in the DLTS family. A community that is caring, compassionate, and caring of one another, helping us bridge the gap of diversity as we step towards an ever more interconnected world.
